Emissions testing in Georgia is part of the annual vehicle inspection, and is a requirement in order for motorists in certain areas of the state to receive their car registration. A emission test on a vehicle is critical in determining how much pollution the car emits when in use. A smog check is performed in Georgia in order to determine the safety and emissions of the vehicle. Vehicle emissions testing in GA is determined by the year your vehicle was built by the manufacturer, the type of vehicle you own, and your location in the state. Emission testing is mandatory in the 13 metro Atlanta counties which include Cherokee, Clayton, Cobb, Coweta, DeKalb, Douglas, Fayette, Forsyth, Fulton, Gwinnett, Henry, Paulding and Rockdale.
Although we do not perform emission testing at MECO, bring us your report when your car will not pass the required testing and we will do all work necessary for it to pass its annual inspection.
Please note that your vehicle will not pass the emissions test with a check engine light on!
